Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant posted a photo to Instagram on Wednesday afternoon and announced that he ruptured his right Achilles tendon during Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors. In the photo, he’s lying in a hospital bed.

He also announced that he already underwent surgery for the injury and that it was a success.

“My road back starts now! I got my family and my loved ones by my side and we truly appreciate all the messages and support people have sent our way,” he wrote.

The San Francisco Chronicle is monitoring the injury news and will continue to provide updates.
